It is a Cartesian map that is created from multiple photographs of the terrain. These photographs are perpendicular to the terrain, all the photographs are overlapped, so that when processing them, the spherical error of the camera is discarded and is additionally corrected with the reference geoid according to the place of flight.
This series of photos united in an Othomosaic, make up the image of a map that meets all cartographic requirements such as precision and location in spatial coordinates. It is the same technique that is used to make maps of this country. This Photomap allows you to take linear measurements, irregular ones such as paths or roads and to take measurements of areas of any elements that are seen in the image. For example, you can take out the area of a pond, the length of a path, the area of the roofs of the property, areas covered in a certain plant species, etc.
Cities use two or more Photomaps with a time range between them, to compare changes in licensed constructions, or constructions without permits such as Barns pools, etc.
